The Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team began Round 11 today at the Sachsenring – the final round before the summer break. Fabio Quartararo and Álex Rins wrapped up the closely contested afternoon Practice (which had the first 17 riders set times within 1s from each other) in 15th and 20th place respectively. Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP's Fabio Quartararo and Álex Rins were looking to make a swift start to the German GP Friday at the Sachsenring. However, the teammates didn't find the one-lap speed they were seeking in this afternoon's Practice shoot-out. They ended the session in 15th and 20th position respectively, which put them on the entry list for Q1.

Quartararo had wrapped up FP1 in P15 and was keen to find an improvement in the afternoon. While he bettered his time by over 1.4s in the Practice, his 1'20.218s best attempt, set on lap 24/26, kept him in 15th place in the Practice results, 0.824s from first.

Rins had finished FP1 in P7 and was aiming to keep the momentum going in the afternoon. The Spaniard managed to improve on his morning time by 0.3s during the Practice when he clocked a 1'21.014s on lap 20/25, but it was not enough to maintain his earlier top-10 placement. Instead, it had him rank 20th in the classifications, 1.620s off today's fastest time.

The teammates will be back in action for FP2 held tomorrow from 10:10-10:40 (GMT+2). The qualifying sessions will follow from 10:50-11:30, and the 15-lap Sprint will start at 15:00.

"I was impressed with Jack [Miller]'s lap time. The 1'20.2s that I did was a really fast lap, but it's far from his. So, we'll have to check, we can use it as a benchmark. As for my Friday, I expected my pace to be worse today, but from my time attack, I expected better. Let's see what we can do tomorrow and where we can improve."
ÁLEX RINS

"I think my lap time could have been 0.5s-0.7s faster, but even like that, it would not have been enough to go through to Q2. But I'm feeling quite calm about this. We have already identified what to do. Jack did a great job, so we have good data to analyse – he went so fast! Let's see what we can improve for tomorrow, and we will give it our best."
