The Grand Prix of Germany was a test of finding the perfect middle ground between pushing and conserving tyres. Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP's Fabio Quartararo and Álex Rins persevered and finished in P7 and P14 respectively.

Quartararo started from P6 but lost some positions on the busy opening lap. He settled in ninth place but had climbed to P7 by lap 9 due to two crashes by rivals. The last twenty laps were uneventful for El Diablo, who continued to circulate in P7. He crossed the finish line 17.560s from the winner.

Launching from P17 on the grid, Rins emerged from the busy first lap in 18th place. The number-42 rider gradually climbed up the standings as a result of misfortunes of rivals, reaching P14 by lap 9. The Spaniard was chasing Franco Morbidelli throughout the remainder of the race and took the chequered flag 31.511s from first.

After today's Race, Quartararo remains in 14th place in the championship standings with 55 points, while Rins stays in 19th with 21 points. Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP are in 10th position in the team classification with 76 points, and Yamaha is 5th in the constructor rankings with 69 points.

The team will now enjoy a three-week summer break before returning to action at the Silverstone Circuit for the Grand Prix of Great Britain, held from 7-9 August.

"It was a long race, where tyre management was crucial, especially since the Sachsenring layout stresses the left side of the tyre in a very severe manner. Races are very tough here, so we had adjusted our expectations accordingly, but we were actually pleasantly surprised at times with the pace Fabio and also Jack found at this track during today's Race. Fabio had a good start, minimised the places lost in the opening stages, and rode a consistent race to secure seventh place and collect important points. Álex worked hard all weekend to recover a better feeling. Ultimately, his hard work was rewarded with 2 points. We leave Sachsenring with good data that we will use during the summer break to come back stronger at Silverstone."

"I had a few moments on the opening lap: I nearly crashed in Turn 3, then I touched with [Jorge] Martín in Turn 5, and he went in a bit optimistic in Turn 8 – but I'm not complaining, it's part of racing. But we exited badly from Turn 7 and three rivals overtook me there, and then I sort of remained in that same position all the race. P7 is a good result."

"In hindsight, I have some thoughts on this Race. If we could start again, I would try to push more in the middle part of the race to stay with [Franco] Morbidelli, because I was taking a lot of care of the tyres and thinking of the end of the race. But in the end my tyres were all used up, so at least I would have been able to stay with him."
