Augusto Fernández Collects Valuable Race-Setting Data in British GP Sprint
Yamaha Factory Racing Team's Augusto Fernández found pace on Day 2 of the Grand Prix of Great Britain. The wild-card rider started the 10-lap Sprint from P23 and completed it in P19.

The Yamaha Factory Racing Team used the Grand Prix of Great Britain Saturday to collect data in a race setting. Augusto Fernández stayed close to the pack in the 10-lap Sprint and concluded it in P19.
Fernández had qualified in P23 and, with two rivals unable to complete the opening lap, climbed up to P21. The Yamaha test rider was sticking close to Pol Espargaró in the opening stages. On lap 4, Raul Fernandez's crash moved the number-47 rider into 20th place. Fernández later found himself behind Toprak Razgatlıoğlu and overtook him on lap 7. The Yamaha test rider crossed the finish line in P19, 27.593s from the winner.
Following today's Sprint results, Fernández holds 24th place in the standings with 5 points.
The Yamaha Factory Racing Team will be back in action tomorrow for Warm Up, held from 09:40-09:50 (GMT+1), and the 20-lap Race, which starts at 13:00.
"I understood that the tyre drop could be big and that it was going to be difficult to manage the tyres, so I suggested the medium rear tyre for the Sprint, but in the end we had to go for the soft tyre to try to get the data. It was a tough race to manage for everyone riding with the soft rear tyre. The medium tyres were slower at the beginning but faster at the end and more consistent overall. For tomorrow, I expect the same, with a similar tyre drop curve. Everyone will have to manage the tyres a lot, I think."
