Yamaha Factory Racing Team Starts British GP Wild Card on Sunny Silverstone Friday
The Yamaha Factory Racing Team resumed their testing programme today, the Grand Prix of Great Britain Friday, where they had left off after the Dutch GP at the end of June. Wild-card entry Augusto Fernández finished the afternoon Practice session in 23rd place.

The Yamaha Factory Racing Team started their Grand Prix of Great Britain Wild Card today in perfect weather to collect useful data. Official test rider Augusto Fernández wrapped up the afternoon Practice at the Silverstone Circuit in 23rd place, putting him on the entry list for tomorrow's Q1.

The number-47 rider had completed 16 laps in FP1 and secured P20. In the afternoon, he put in another 19 laps in the Practice. Fernández improved his 2'00.569s best morning time to a 1'58.830s in the afternoon outing on lap 17/19, but it still had him finish in 23rd place in the Practice results.

The MotoGP action will resume tomorrow: FP2 will be held from 11:10-11:40 (GMT+1), followed by the qualifying sessions from 11:50-12:30, and the 10-lap Sprint will start at 16:00.

"The first day of the race weekend here in Silverstone is about getting back on the pace and trying to be as close to the other Yamahas as possible. In the end, I was quite happy with my lap time, but I am in last position, so it's not good enough. The goal is to have a competitive pace and a good feeling on the bike tomorrow so we can try some things on the bike. Let's see what we can do."
