Silverstone (United Kingdom), 9th August 2026
The Yamaha Factory Racing Team completed their Grand Prix of Great Britain testing programme, securing valuable data. Wild-card entry Augusto Fernández was able to stay close to the MotoGP field during the 20-lap contest and crossed the finish line in P16*.
Fernández commenced from P23 and found himself at the back of the pack in 21st position as two rivals crashed in the opening stages. While the test rider concentrated on his pace, he gradually moved up the rankings as five other riders failed to complete the race distance. Fernández took the chequered flag in 16th place*, 42.379s from first.
Following today's race results, Fernández still holds 24th place in the standings with 5 points*.
"It was a tough weekend. Personally, I'm happy with the race. I was able to close the gap to Toprak in the end. To be close to another Yamaha is good for me. This weekend was good for me to get back on the pace, be closer to the MotoGP lap times, and be faster in general, which will aid our testing programme. It helps us test in a better way. We have a good programme, so let's try to push. I'm looking forward to it!"
Following Fabio Quartararo's post-race penalty, Augusto Fernández moved up to P15 in the amended results. He now has 6 points in the championship standings, holding 24th place.
